Sleep Apnea Phenotype

  • The computable phenotype for the Sleep Apnea Patient Centered Outcomes Network uses existing and well established ICD codes for different types of sleep apnea including 327.23 (adult and pediatric obstructive sleep apnea), 780.51 (insomnia with sleep apnea), 780.53 (hypersomnia with sleep apnea), and 780.57 (unspecified sleep apnea).
  • The computable phenotype can be cross-referenced against the following to increase specificity: AHI (sleep lab report) >= 5 or  HCPCS code E0601 (CPAP) or E0470 or E0471 (BIPAP) or A7034 (CPAP mask) or HCPCS A9270 or E)486 (Mandibular devices) or CPT 95811 (CPAP titration) or CPT 95811 (Split night CPAP titration).

Membership in www.MyApnea.Org is open to any person who has been told by a health provider that they have sleep apnea or believe they are at-risk for apnea due symptoms of sleep apnea (e.g., snoring, sleepiness, etc.) and wants to share and learn from others in order to shape future research and treatments.  Parents and caregivers of family members with sleep apnea will also be able to join and help their loved ones participate and complete surveys. Separate surveys will be developed for pediatric patients at a later date. We have structured our patient portal with several features that will allow members to provide health information and other data over the course of the study.

We have proposed a computable phenotype for CDRN's to identify patients in their systems and have short promotional messages to share with patients to make them away of MyApnea.Org as an educational and support resource with the opportunity to participate in research.

We already have identified a number of exciting “use cases” that can be conducted in collaboration with the CDRNs.  We also are confident that patients will enjoy the opportunity to participate in a community forum where they can share and learn from others like them, access sleep-related education materials, and access tools to help support healthy sleep.

We look forward to hearing from you about your interest in working with our PPRN and whether you believe that you can proceed based on the information provided or you would like to schedule a conference call to discuss next steps.

Should you have any questions, please contact Daniel Mobley, Senior Project Manager at phone (857) 307-0338.

What am I missing here?  I cannot find any phenotype, just a link to another site that want me to create yet another account.
